On 28 Jul 1450 Richard "Kingmaker" Neville 16th Earl Warwick, 6th Earl Salisbury (22) succeeded his mother as 6th Earl Salisbury (2C 1337), 8th Baron Montagu, 7th Baron Monthermer adding the the earldom of Warwick he had already acquired through his wife soe two years previously. The combined earldoms of Warwick and Salisbury made Warwick the second most powerful man in the Kingdom making him Kingmaker.
